RobotVisual

Before you start

You don’t need to buy anything to start. You need a computer with a browser, an hour a day and the will to break things on purpose (in 3D, first).

What you need

A computer

With an up-to-date browser. The 3D labs run there, with nothing to install.

An hour a day

That is enough for the 8-week roadmap. If you go slower, stretch the weeks: the order matters more than the speed.

Nothing to buy until stage 3

Stages 1 and 2 are practiced in free simulators. By stage 3 you will know which board you need.

How to use RobotVisual

  1. 1Follow the roadmap in order. Each stage builds on the one before.
  2. 2At each stage: play with the 3D lab, open the resources, do the practice and tick the checklist.
  3. 3Break things on purpose. Removing the resistor or flipping a propeller teaches you more than reading.
  4. 4Answer the questions at the end of each stage. If you miss one, go back to that step’s lab.
  5. 5Finish with the final project: an obstacle-avoiding robot, first in 3D and then for real.

If a word doesn’t ring a bell, look it up in the glossary. Before buying, read parts, safety and common failures.

Start the roadmap

Which stage do you start at?

Five questions, one per stage. You start at the first one you miss.

Question 1 of 5

You have 5 V and a red LED that uses 2 V at 20 mA. What resistor do you calculate?
