The question it answers

How does a robot vacuum pick a sock up off the floor?

The steps

  1. 1Start
  2. 2Detect and grab
  3. 3Into the basket
  4. 4Vacuum
  5. 5Take it apart
  6. 6The gripper

The big idea: A Roborock robot vacuum of this kind keeps a folding arm inside its body (Roborock figure). A laser sensor on top maps the room; when a sock is in the way, a hatch opens, the arm unfolds, the gripper grabs it and drops it in the basket, and the arm tucks away again before it keeps vacuuming.

The question, steps and idea are translated from the original site.

What it is

A home robot that uses sensors to decide: it maps the room with a laser, detects a sock, unfolds a gripper arm, picks it up and keeps vacuuming.

It is one of the newest Visual Learning machines and its author hasn’t said what he made it with.
